Floor nominations will not be accepted at the Annual Meeting. At-large nominations need to be submitted to Sharda or Zach by Thursday, February 18.

(All officers are required to be current board members with a minimum of six months board service.) We are particularly interested this year in individuals with expertise in website design and maintenance, IT, grant-writing, fundraising, and public relations.

Western Avenue Development Meeting

The next meeting for the Western Avenue development plan will be on Thursday, March 11 at 7:00pm at Devon Bank. We are particularly interested in having individuals who have a background in business development, urban planning, architecture, and commercial real estate to attend. Please pass this on to anyone you may know who has expertise in these areas.

OPENING OF THE BOONE-CLINTON SCHOOL

Informational Meeting - Wednesday, February 17

There will be a community meeting about the opening of the new Boone-Clinton School:

Date: Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Time: 5:00pm

Location: Clinton School Cafeteria, 6110 N. Fairfield Avenue

(Please enter the school through Door #12 located in the parking lot on California Avenue)

The meeting will be hosted by the Chicago Public Schools Office of Demographics. A representative from this department will present the proposed attendance boundary changes that will determine the student enrollment at Boone, Clinton, and the new school.

The new school is scheduled to open in September 2010 and is located at 6700 N. Whipple Street. If you have any questions please contact Dixie Rouleau, Assistant Principal of Boone School, at 773-534-2160.

"GET TO KNOW YOUR PUBLIC REPRESENTATIVES NIGHT" RECAP

Over 100 people showed up to meet our elected officials and get answers to their questions and concerns about our community.

Our thanks to Alderman Bernard Stone, State Senator Ira Silverstein, State Representative Lou Lang, Commissioner Larry Suffredin, Commissioner Bridget Gainer, and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky for coming and telling us what they and their staff can do for us, updating us on what's happening in Springfield, explaining the most recent developments in the healthcare debate in Washington and answering questions regarding the use of technology to reach constituents, crime in the neighborhood, and business development on Western Avenue.

We would like to thank our co-sponsors - the Indo-American Center, Jewish Community Council, Lakeside Community Development Corporation, West Ridge Chamber of Commerce, Rogers Park Business Alliance, and Zam's Hope Community Resource Center for making this such a successful event! Rabbi Doug Zelden taped the panel discussion and we will send you the link as soon as it is available in case you were not able to attend.
