  • WRPCO's next general membership meeting will be held on June 19, 2008 from 7-9 PM at the Indo-American Center, 6328 N. California Ave. The meeting will feature the presentation of the "Devon Avenue Needs-Assessment: A Smart Growth Strategy," presented by members of the South Asian-American Policy and Research Institute. Come help us take a fresh look at the needs, challenges, and opportunities affecting our neighborhood's most vibrant commercial district. This event is being co-sponsored by Apna Ghar, Asian Human Services, Devon Avenue Special Service Area, Hamdard, IQRA International Educational Foundation, Indo-American Center, Islamic Center of Chicago, Jewish Community Council of West Rogers Park, Metropolitan Asian Family Services, Pakistani-American Business Association, and the West Ridge Chamber of CommerceClick here to see the meeting flyer (PDF format).
     

  • The latest WRPCO General Membership meeting was held on Wednesday March 26 at the Daniel Boone Elementary School.  Among other things, we held our annual election to the Board of Directors at this meeting.  Click here to view the meeting minutes (Microsoft Word document).

  • "Get to Know Your Public Representatives" Civic Event
    When:  January 23, 2008 from 7-9pm
    Where: Daniel Boone Elementary School - 6710 N. Washtenaw Ave.

    WRPCO hosted a civics event--"Get to Know Your Public Representatives"--on Wednesday January 23, 2008, from 7-9 PM, in the auditorium of the Daniel Boone Elementary School (6710 N. Washtenaw Ave.). Alderman Stone, Commissioner Suffredin, State Representative Lang, State Senator Silverstein, and Congresswoman Schakowsky agreed to participate in this event.

    The event consisted of three parts. First, each representative had a few minutes to explain how his/her office functions. Second, the representatives answered questions from the audience. And third--and most important--the representatives met with their constituents face-to-face in small groups.

  • WRPCO General Meeting                                                                 A WRPCO General Meeting was held on Thursday, July 26 from 7:00 - 8:30pm in the Devon Bank Conference Center (the conference room on the lower level of the bank) at 6445 N. Western Avenue. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the proposed Senior Center in Warren Park.  Alderman Stone was invited. Click here to see the minutes from this meeting.

  • WRPCO General Meeting
    A WRPCO General Meeting was held on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 from 7:00 - 8:30pm at the Daniel Boone Elementary School MPR room - 6710 N. Washtenaw. Alderman Stone attended the meeting.

  • 50th Ward Aldermanic Candidates Forum (primary election)
    The WRPCO held a 50th Ward Aldermanic Candidates Forum for the February 27th, 2007 primary election. The forum was held on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 from 7:00 - 9:00pm at the Daniel Boone Elementary School Auditorium. The candidates shared their views on community planning, housing, education and other issues. The following candidates were invited to appear:

    - Alderman Bernard Stone (declined to attend)
    - Ms. Naisy Dolar
    - Mr. Salman Aftab
    - Mr. Greg Brewer

    Over 275 residents attended this forum.

    The WRPCO held a second 50th Ward Aldermanic Candidates Forum on Wednesday, March 21st, 2007 for the April 17th, 2007 Run-off Election. This forum was also held from 7:00 - 9:00pm at the Daniel Boone Elementary School Auditorium. The following candidates were invited to appear:

    - Alderman Bernard Stone (declined to attend)
    - Ms. Naisy Dolar”

    Over 140 residents attended this forum.
